"Liberty" is a wreck that was sunk in order to promote diving in Cyprus. "Liberty" is an old Russian vessel that was saved from scrap and turned into an artificial reef for divers to encourage marine life back to area. A two-meter cross was placed next to Liberty wreck by famous Russian explorer Feodor Konyukhov. Our diving center made its contribution in making this dive site even more interesting by placing statue of Mother of God next to the Cross. The Liberty Wreck is 37m long and 8m wide and sits upright in 27m of water to the seabed with the shallowest part being at 22m. The Liberty was sunk in May 2009 and just days after she went down marine life started to appear on the wreck and the first and most impressive was the squid eggs thousands of eggs all over the wreck.
